5.0bronco Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 im just wondering how hot these engines are supposed to run? Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 I cruise around at 180+ i start to say "OH BOY" at 215ish on my digital temp gauge. Quote
bigtizzles Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 Hot as balls, unless you have a cool head. Probably around 200-220. Cool head 180-190. Mine used to blow antifreeze on the pipes after a good hard lap around the track in the middle of summer bone stock. There is tons of posts about this. Google it bro, good luck im just wondering how hot these engines are supposed to run? Quote
crustydemon Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 They run hot. I see you have a cool head, that will help. I also run engine ice or water wetter in the coolant and a aftermarket impeller. An oversized radiator helps tons but the main thing is to keep air flowing through the radiator, dont just putt around. I dont know what the ideal temp to try to keep them at is but I say keep your coolant cool and your pipes hot. Do you think yours is getting too hot? Quote
Jereme6655 Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 i know when im cruising nice and fast on a day that's say about 70-75 degrees....im running around 170-180......but if you come to a stop you can watch the temp go up up and away. hell ive seen it get to 205 just idling. But i also descovered (with having the temp guage) how to blip and feather the throttle at certain times to help cool down the motor. Since we have no fans we have to keep the air flowing through the radiator......alot of people will shoot a hill a couple of times and then take the bike out and give it hell in a straight away to get some air movement to ensure that it is staying cool...
