I just bought a Banshee thats been sitting a few years. It only had a little gas in it, and I added just a bit of fresh gas to get it to start and run. It has some old Answer or Toomey pipes, supposed to have a newer top end on it with a dune port. Carbs look to be stock and it has a cone filter in the air box.

When I start it up, it backfires out of both pipes while its running. Sometimes even while kicking it over. I used the search function and everything I found was related to one cylinder backfiring. Any ideas on where to start looking for both cylinders backfiring? Could it have something to do with the old gas? Or am I looking for an air leak or electrical gremlin?

i would clean the carbs , put new gas in and try it again . did you put new plugs in her ? if not you need to do that also

IO would do a pressure test and a compression test to make sure the motor is tight and the rings arnt frozen, seals go bad if something sits 4 long periods and rings can get stuck in the lands
