  1. OK guys, I am slowly stripping this bike down to make it a duner. First off, whats with the hoses coming off of the carbs? My other bike has one small vent hose off of either side of each carb. This one has them all spliced together and ran back to the air box and stuck in a retainer holder? Whats the purpose of this and can I ditch it? Secondly, this one has a air box and one large cone filter. Whats the easiest/lowest cost way to remove the air box and just have the filter? Is that going to effect jetting? Sorry for the noob questions!
  2. Here is my 89. The first one when I first got it and the fenders were still in tact. The next are after the fenders were cut and seat cover replaced. This is my 87 I just picked up. Just chopped the fenders and pulled off a bunch of stickers. Ready to start modding this one soon.
  3. Bare is no problem, the color just got me to thinking about options. Do you have any pics of yours?
  4. I am planning on taking my bike down and having it powder coated. The extended swing arm I was looking at comes in either black, silver vein or powder chome. I was thinking of coating the front suspension to match along with some other misc items. THe plan would be red and powder chrome. Anyone have any good pics of powder chome coated parts or bikes? I cant afford to chrome this one like my other bike is. So I was trying to fix this one up on a budget.
  5. She actually got me into the sport. She has been riding at Pismo and Glamis since she was about 3 according to her folks. Hence the love for Kawi 3 wheelers. I have a great pic of her in about 1981 on her 70 Honda ATC at Pismo!
  6. She is currently 7 months preganant with our first child. Dont think I will be getting too many pics of her on the bike any time soon! However, just to entertain you... here is a pic of her on her Tecate 3. Here is some pics after I cleaned it up a bit, chopped the fenders and pulled a bunch of stickers off of her. Starting to look like a Banshee now!
  7. I just bought a Banshee thats been sitting a few years. It only had a little gas in it, and I added just a bit of fresh gas to get it to start and run. It has some old Answer or Toomey pipes, supposed to have a newer top end on it with a dune port. Carbs look to be stock and it has a cone filter in the air box. When I start it up, it backfires out of both pipes while its running. Sometimes even while kicking it over. I used the search function and everything I found was related to one cylinder backfiring. Any ideas on where to start looking for both cylinders backfiring? Could it have something to do with the old gas? Or am I looking for an air leak or electrical gremlin?
  8. Steady... No, that is the only one on the bike that is silver...the previous owner said it was damaged or something and had to be replaced. I might get that one coated when I get my new bike coated. Chuy... Yup, this was his sons bike. This bike is fast and runs great! I have since replaced the seat cover with a carbon fiber one, trimmed the rear fenders and added a twist throttle and a few other goodies. It was nice that all of the expensive stuff like the pipes and Cascade goodies were on there.
  9. Thanks guys! Could anybody identify those pipes and silencers? He claimed they were old Tommeys. My other Banshee has T5's and its stamped right into them. These have nothing on them.
  10. Thanks! I will look him up!
  11. A while back, there was a picture or a link on here toa guy making Banshee grills that had the Misfits skull logo on them. Anyone remember that or have some info?
  12. I bought a bike from a guy in Rancho a few years back. He had one that looked exactly like that one that he was contemplating selling. The one I bought was almost identical...the colors were just reversed. This photo was taken in his garage...you can see a tiny bit of the other bike in the background. Sure seems coincidental that mine has all of the same parts installed and chromed as your new bike. Wonder if it was the same guy?
  13. Yup, she's a j-arm 87. My other is a 89 with the same suspension. Works great in the dunes!
  14. The wife called me and told me she found a good deal on a Banshee. It had a fresh top end, nice plastics and even some port work and works shocks. Long story short, everytime we go out, she spends the majority of the time riding mine! So now its make the choice of give her mine and build this one up the way I want it, or build this similar to mine so she will like it...decisions, decisions! Needs some serious cleaning and I will have to get some better pics after I get it out of the truck!
