Sneaky03 Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 just rebuilt topend, and put on cool head, had cylinders ported, took it to oklahoma ran very very strong for the first day then started spitting up out of the overflow. Put in new impeller and gear even though everything looked good didn't help. Put on KNOWN good radiator cap NO help, Put in new engine ice NO help, Plugs look good. When i went to drain oil to take off side cover to replace water pump oil pressure seemed so high could hardly get drain plug out. Start it up and shut it off there is a ton of oil pressure, can tell just by taking out dip stick. Does this maybe have any thing to do with the overheating problem or should i start at the head gasket? Thanks for any help... Quote
bigblockbanshee Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 (edited) If you're pulling the dipstick while it's running I'm 99.9% sure it's just oil slinging off of the clutch. I would probably save from doing that anymore unless you want a big mess. Not sure how it could be building pressure in the transmission area unless you've got a right-side crank seal leaking or somehow you've got a leak in the case halves themselves letting pressure get out of the crankcase. That's the only way it could be building pressure in that specific area, plus you have two vents, one right under the rear engine mount and one under the impeller cover on the clutch side so there shouldn't be any considerable pressure building up in there. My guess is that you could have an air bubble somewhere. Jack up the front end a couple of feet in the air or close to it and see if your coolant goes down. If not that then I'd look at the radiator itself. It's a pretty self explanatory system so if it's put together correctly and has no blockages or leaks then it has to work. Another thing, is it spitting out of the overflow all of the time or just when it gets hot? If it's all of the time then of course that would mean that you are getting compression into the cooling system and you'll need to tear it back down. Edited May 21, 2011 by bigblockbanshee Quote

Not pullin dipstick while running just start it for a bit and then shut it off, seems like its building pressure never noticed it before had this banshee for seven/eight years now. Noticed it when i went to drain the oil to check out the impeller so much pressure drain plug was a bitch to get loose then when it finally came out oil shot out fairly fast like it had pressure built up never seen anything like it before. Spitting up not all the time just when hot or at least somewhat hot have to ride for a couple minutes then notice it. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 (edited) Only way it can build pressure in trans area is if the vents are plugged. Check the vents and tube to be sure that air will actually flow through it. Least wise around here there is a wasp that likes to lay eggs in small holes and seals them in with mud like shit. Sneaky03 Posted July 31, 2011 Author Report Posted July 31, 2011 Figured it out, vent tubes did seem a little plugged up, head gasket was blown, and coil was bad thanks for all the help runs like a top now just to bad not many places to ride around here:( Quote
