bksdesign Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Hi I am new to your site and banshees. I bought an 02 and it ran fine for a few days. Once it acted like the trottle was stuck. I went mudding a couple days ago and it was fine. When I got home I washed it now its wanting to act like the throttle is stuck often and its backfiring and pinging kind of. As far as I can tell the only mods is has is the tors removed and a longer swing arm. I did notice on the bottom of each carb there appears to be a hose missing and figure this is where water got in the carbs. My question is what do you guys think the problem is and where do I start. I ordered a clymer manual but would like to work on it ASAP if anyone has a CD or file with clear carb pix and instructions. You guys seem to be the banshee wizards so please dispense wisdom. Thanks my email is [email protected] Quote
Screamin_Banshee Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Take the carbs off and clean them good.... make sure the slides arnt getting stuck open and are closing all the way... Also make sure the choke tube is properly installed and there's no air leaks happening The carbs are pretty easy to clean, just dont tear the bowl gaskets....and use lots of carb cleaner (displaces any water, dries nicely). Like mentioned above, make sure the choke tube is in place and carb tops/gaskets are securely in there place. Im sure you can do a search and find a walk through for cleaning stocker carbs, pix and destructions. Quote
midlifecrisis Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 This might sound stupid, but check to make sure theres gas in the tank, mine did that once. Quote

DO NOT run it like that, dry off the filter and if it happens again use the choke to shut it off since the cut-off switch probably wont work either. Edited April 18, 2011 by muggzy Quote
bansheesandrider Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 There are a whole list of problems it could be, but start with the basics. Take your carbs apart, one at a time so you don't mix up parts between them, and clean them thoroghly. Put them back on and make sure that the choke hose is on as well as all the other required tubes. Also make sure that none of the wire harness is pinched, rubbed, or shorted. Does the bike still have the park brake rev limiter? If you Google "Banshee service manual" there should be a pdf file of the factory service manual come up. You can find parts diagrams at several websites such as CheapCycleParts.com or Chaparal Motorsports or several other OEM parts sites. Quote
