jonvia Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 does your crank make a weird sound if a bearing is going out? or is it supposed to make some noise? lol. i was tuning my carbs just by turning the air/fuel screw a quarter of a turn and it starting making a noise, and then i turned it a 3/4 the other way from the normal setting and it stopped making that noise.... could it be my carbs? Larry's Shee Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Maybe turned it lean to the point it was detonation? Just a thought. If it was bad seems it would make noise no matter how it was tuned. Quote

Larry's Shee Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Damn things are so noisy it's hard to tell. From what I've learned on here IF the kicker idle gear goes it can be big problem. Check it out for peace of mind? Weird the noise would stop with turn of air screw . Quote

blubyyou Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Jon why don't you just bring me your shee and let me go through it all so you can get some ride time in lol! Just joking with you but seriously I don't mind to help you out with it. I have very little time off but if I had it for a few days I think I could get you going. Been a little crazy with wifey a baby due in 3 weeks lol. Quote
blubyyou Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 By the way when I was tuning mine on my fresh build it made a bad knocking noise and it was nothing more than a little tuning with the air screws and idle screws to raise the idle. Mine sounded as if it was around the transmission in the bike but disappeared as soon as I tuned it a little. Now I just need to get my clutch adjusted and fine tune the carbs before ride season. Good luck. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Maybe try adjusting the idle up a hair with the cables then adj air screw. Might be slowing it down to the point of stall and you're just hearing each little noise seperatly. Think these are noisy, try an air cooled without rubbers between fins. Sound like a countdown to self destruct on 3. Quote

BigRed350x Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Is your crank trued and welded? A lot of times if your idle goes too low you will hear some noise from the crank, which is why the noise comes and goes with your idle adjust. If your crank isn't trued and welded and your hearing weird noises, this might be a good time for a tear-down, inspection, and send the crank off to Kevin at Herr Jugs and just get it trued and welded. - Jared Quote
