Larry's Shee Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Might try to be more specific on what you are trying to do. I can think of about 7 ways to adjust/tune it. Quote

sstaton1983 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 wow!!,i think you are talking about the air mix screw you can run it in or out to fine tune the air fuel mixture.from your post i think you might be in over your head.if you dont know how to to tune a carb. you can lean out your motor and have a meltdown.i sugest you find a friend with some experience to help you out.meanwhile search and study so you can do it yourself next time. gotta_goatsfast Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 sstaton has a point. Although everyone has to start somewhere, I suggest that if you are serious about carbs then look into a Keihin PWK series carburetor. IMO they are a lot easier to tune and there is a ton of support on here if you get into a bind. Having friends to show you first hand helps, too... Quote

EDIT: people are gonna say somthing about you posting in the wrong section. bored the next step from stock, exaughst DMC 916's , good strong compression compared to kick (not tested yet), stock reeds , single air filters , temp 70-85 degrees weekly, elevation 231.4 ft Quote
gotta_goatsfast Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Carbs won't net you any gains. Consider the TORS removal kit for your stockers and invest in some reeds and advance the timing. Then get yourself a coolhead and up the compression a little. After that, port the bitch. THEN, you can consider carburetors as a worthwhile investment. Quote
sstaton1983 Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 you are overcarbed.with that setup you still have plenty left with the stockers.you will not be happy with big. carbs on a stock port/stroke motor.the smaller carbs have a quicker throttle response.just keep the stock ones tuned and you will be happy. Banshee Rider239 Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 ok thanks guys back to stock i go Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Sudco has a good book on carb tuning. The Clymers manual covers the carbs very good. Nothing wrong with stock carbs, Isee a lot of builds with them. might look into getting them bored to 28mm. Remove tors properly. Edited April 6, 2011 by Larry's Shee Quote

Larry's Shee Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Throttle Override Retarded Shit . Prevents runaway if throttle sticks, only problem is that they malfunction, when nothing is wrong. . Limits spark advance, sometimes limits it to no spark at all. Quote
