blue beast Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 hey guys I bought my banshee and i was wanting to change the gear case oil Was at the local auto store and they sold me some lucas oil High Performance Motorcycle oil. It is 10-40 fully synthetic oil. Says on back for high temps and high RPM'S and for Wet clutches Just wondering if this will be good or not. If not what is the best thing to put in Trail/road riding thanks Guys Quote
camatv Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 should be fine. you just need at least 2 qts the bottom end holds 1.5 qt. just never use something thats NOT for wet clutches its amazing you even got the right stuff at the store! must have been an actualy MC guy who helped you instead of all the highschool girls that work at our locla ones. I have ran it for years in at least 4 different bikes and I have never had a problem with my tranny and clutch. I have not had problems with shift forks, bearings, gears, etc. I have never even had any problems with clutch balls welding to the pushrod. It is a little expensive, but expensive oil is still cheaper than buying parts or having a ride cut short. It is also a litttle hard to come by, I order mine from Rocky Mountain ATV as my local shop that carried it closed up. Quote

700vflash Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 If it is for a wet clutch it should be fine. I ran 10-30 motor oil in mine when I got it, it slipped in the higher rpm's. I switched to the same fluid I run in my street bike (which has way more power than the shee) and haven't had a problem. I never fully understood why it recommends 10-30 motor oil, there is no way I would put 10-30 motor oil in my street bike Quote
