  1. hey guys I bought my banshee and i was wanting to change the gear case oil Was at the local auto store and they sold me some lucas oil High Performance Motorcycle oil. It is 10-40 fully synthetic oil. Says on back for high temps and high RPM'S and for Wet clutches Just wondering if this will be good or not. If not what is the best thing to put in Trail/road riding thanks Guys
  2. This past weekend i was riding my shee and the wires out of my stock tail light pulled out of the socket right at the plug. So there is no was of repairing it. I have considered getting a LED tail light ,but doesn't a LED need a constant voltage? Because my stock one a idol would flicker. So if someone with a LED tail light could help me out I would appreciate it. And If so what is the best LED tail light to get and where. Thanks
  3. Thanks guys I'll prolly do the more detailed break in. The other question I was going to ask was what jets do you think should be in there. Has HMF Fattys and have the V-Force reeds. Not sure about what ones I think maybe the 2's, but mechanic said they were carbon fiber. If that helps anyone. But when I pick it up tomorrow I am going to ask him what he had put in there. I am in the St.Louis area and will be running NKG BR8ES plugs. Thanks again For all who reply
  4. Tomorrow I am getting my 2003 banshee back after a top end rebuild. Talked to the guy that is rebuilding it, and he said that it only had 105lbs on a compression test. So after tearing in to it he found that one of the pistons had a crack in it. Says that nothing else has been hurt and everything else looks great. Now as far as breaking it in I don't know how to break 2-strokes in. So if you would please help me out and give me a few pointers I will greatly appreciate every ones input. I will be running the klotz green label oil. at 32-1. pump gas(93) Thanks to everyone
  5. Alright guys sorry for the length in time it has taken me to reply. So I decided since I didn't have a clue to what I was doing I ended up taking it to some one who did. The guy just called me yesterday and said that he is rebuilding the top end. He said compression was low so he tore in to it and the cylinders/piston had 0.0020 slop in it. So that's the scoop as of now should have shee back at the end of the week. I am having withdraws from it. Pretty bad when I have only rode it about 45 minutes.
  6. Today I decided that I would be better off just taking it to someone who knew what they were doing. If I would have known a little more about them I would have done everything you guys had said. But risking hurting the engine I didn't wan to take that chance. So I told the guy to do a compression test and he is going go check out the jets and let me know then I will let you guys know what was in it. Thanks for all your help. Really learned a lot and GREAT DESCRIPTIONS of what I would need to do. Banshee HQ is the best forum on the Internet for info and great help
  7. What all fluids are there to change and what do you suggest using for them. The front end feels tight. ball joints to the tie-rods no slop at all.
  8. Also what else would you guys think I need to check out on this bike before I start riding it a bunch?
  9. I'll have to do that tomorrow. Thanks a lot for your help and I'll get back to this tomorrow with a bunch of answers. The first 5 gallons I ran in it was klots benol the green label. And I used all of that I had and now I have a blue label Klotz. What would you prefer ?
  10. How do I check what jets I have? Where is the pilot jets at on the carbs? Sorry I do not know all of this
  11. So you think I need to change to a BR9ES? I am not for sure on what jets are in it. The guy i bought it from said the jets that came with the FMF pipes are what is in it. Elevation I'm not sure exactly but I am in St. Louis area. Could the gaskets on the exhaust be causing it to overheat?
  12. I put new plugs in it as soon as i bought the banshee and it appears to be rich. Plug looks black all the way across. I was told to run NKG BR8ES plugs. Are those good plugs or do I need to change them? How do I check for air leaks? I did notice around where the exhaust pipe meets the head it has some oil like there is a leak around that make it over heat? Does not have a boost bottle. Forgot to mention it has a K&N air filter and has the snorkel boot removed. Will any compression tester work?
  13. I am not really for sure it was coming out the cap or the over flow hose . Yes it sounded like it was boiling and it filled up the overflow tank. andrew3160- I was also paranoid of the ticking noise. Do you think it was a good deal? If it gets hot does it idle up? is it normal?
  14. My first post and first time owning a banshee. Here's the story. My buddy and I went to a used ATV dealership and we walked in and he fell in love. He owned a banshee when he was a teenager. So he bought that banshee and he told me once I rode his I would have the itch to buy one. I told him there was no way. So to say the least I rode it and fell in love with it. So here I am a month later with a 2003 banshee. I bought it and it has a dura blue axle, v-force reeds?(don't have a clue about them), FMF gold series Fattys exaust with power core 2's, and gyt-r full skid plates . I paid 1900 for it. doesnt appear to be abused. The issue I have had is the first time I went riding I had the coolant level in between the full and low. About 20 minutes after some riding it started spilling coolant out of the radiator cap. So I shut it off and let it sit till it stopped. Then I rode it back to my truck and went home. Today went riding and rode for prolly another 20 minutes and it started to idle up like it was getting hot again. so i shut it off and let it sit for about 5 minutes. After that went back to the truck again and quit. What is going on? It is about 20*F with snow on the ground. Wasn't going fast or nothing but wasn't really riding it hard. The other question I have is that when at idle I hear a small ticking noise. My buddy said it might be from the reeds? Ever heard of this problem? Thanks for all the help. Help is greatly appreciated
