i need to know what the torque specs are for the case ?and also what to use to seel it with? because they dont make a gasket for the case.

and if it ok to clean the crank bearings with brake cleaner sense they dont got oiled by the tranny oil but with the gas/oil mix running threw the carbs

okay...this should be a time for you to buy a clymers manual....its $25 and its the best $25 that you can spend on your bike. There are a number of gasket sealers you can use.... yamabond 4, hondabond, threebond 1211, threebond 1194.....your gonna get a bunch of answers. I know site sponors that say that the Threebond 1211 is MUCH easier to use than the yamabond 4 as the yamabond is pretty stringy. There is a specific torque sequence for the case...

 

here we go....

 

tighten crankcase NUTS to 3.6 ft lbs

tighten crankcase BOLTS to 3.6 ft lbs

tighten crankcase NUTS to 7.2 ft lbs

tighten crankcase NUTS to 18 ft lbs.

tightne crankcase BOLTS to 7.2 ft lbs.

There is a sequence. On the upper case you will see a number next to each bolt. Tighten according to numerical order. On the bottom, there are 8 nuts. If I remember the sequence, you'll start with the nut left from center toward the front of the engine. Next is right of center toward back. Then left of center toward back. Right of center toward front. Far left front. Far left rear. Far right front. Far right rear.

 

The book has a LOT of tips and tricks that you may have already missed.

are the cylinder head nuts the same ft/lb as the case?

i havent stared to put it back together ill just get the manual i know i need it like i need my carb sync tool thanks for the help bhq members :notworthy:
