is it the bolt or bolt hole.... any ways one of the ways below should help you out

1.

if its bolt with a rounded head there is easy outs that will go over that stripped head and bite into it tighter and tighter when you go to loosen the bolt it will break it or take it out.... i have set use the on takin out old head steads works great....

2.

if the bolts snapped i would drill a hole in the middle and easy out it that way... guessing that is nice powder coated frame and you don't want screw it up if you have little propane torch apply some heat strictly the bolt it doesn't take much heat and it will cause the bolt to contract and break the bond in there and should help it come out easier

3.

if its the hole thats stripped out you could try a thread chaser or you could thread it for a bigger bolt

4.

fill the bolt hole with a compound either Liquid Steel or J.B. Weld. You've got to love the folks that invented those products! Next coat the bolt liberally with liquid soap Crank the bolt back into the hole and wipe up the excess that squeezes out around the bolt head When the compound is dried, you're set! You can now screw or unscrew at will

That is one beautiful repair job and I thought mine was clean. Did you have that insert machined or is it something off the shelf (with mods?) I see that cad dwg but I gotta ask to be sure. And ditto on the short piece?

I drew it on Catia V5 and turned it on a CNC lathe at school. The small piece was for the front mount which I didn't use but might put in when I have my frame PC'ed. I had a friend hit me right in the foot peg with his dirt bike and broke the front mount and bent the rear bolt. The Yamaha dealership welded the front mount (rather shity) and I ended up having to fix the rear myself.

Nice job. My foot peg was welded to the frame when I got it and I finally cut it off and repaired it this past summer. In case you're interested in what's under that front peg hole you can scroll down through the pics I posted on this other site:

I used a helicoil on the rear and build up and filed down the front until I had enough surface to support the peg. So far, it's holding up great.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Yeah, I have plans to fix the temporary repair on the front mount with the small slug when I get around to powder coating the frame and changing the color skeme. (sp?) <_<

I realize there are many different ways to efectively fix a broken foot peg mount, most of which are less involved than this. But with my knowledge and access to the tools to do the job I felt there was only one way for me to do it. It also helps me sleep a little better at night knowing its much stronger than stock, as I am no light weight. lol bout 230lbs

There's no question here, your fix is MUCH stronger than stock and if mine fails, I'll be doing it with the insert like you did. Nice job :headbang:
