I would be willing to bet you've got an airleak somewhere between the carbs and the cyls. Are you sure all the gaskets are in there? Everything's tight? Also make sure that your throttle cables are seated down in the carb tops all the way, and that your slides are coming all the way down. Sometimes when you move them around, which you did to install the reeds. Quote

Sometimes when you move them around, which you did to install the reeds. well i didnt put the hose clamps on the carbs when i put them in i just started it to make sure it would run but it was only running on one cylinder because i messed up the carbs so idk if that has anything to do with it or not....i ordered those floats you linked. i was planning on a big ride this weekend but idk if i can now. DEFINITELY not having those hose clamps on the carb would cause a high idle. That is a massive air leak, which makes it run very lean, and causes a high idle. Quote

That is a massive air leak, which makes it run very lean, and causes a high idle. x2, I had the smallest crack in one of my boots and it caused my left side to run way lean. Put a new boot on it fixed the problem. And this is like the smallest crack in the history of small carb boot cracks. Just goes to show that little of an air leak will cause a huge difference.
