Hey guys. Went to start my Banshee up today to get it ready for the dunes next weekend. Started up just fine, idled for a bit then popped really loud. I then noticed the right exhaust stopped smoking and started running rough. If I put my hand over the end of the exhaust it feels like its trying to pull a vaccum on that side and every now and then it will pop and blow out exhaust then back to trying to pull a vaccum. Would a broken reed cause this or should I look into the engine? Thanks for your help. Jesse

start small. look at EVERYTHING first..... do a compression test and see where your at. Look at all possible areas for a leak to form. Did your choke-tube manage to come off? if you have the set-up.....do a leak down test on your motor. all these things can get you REAL close to finding your issue without having to crack your topend open only to get stumped.

Ive had a similar problem.. Never had any pop noise... But i fouled out 1 of the plugs and it was just running on 1 cylinder.. Same side effects, I took the plugs out, lil 2+2 carb cleaner... lil sand paper action... Fired right up,.. solved my problems... So like Jere said.. start with the little stuff!!! No reason to tear a motor apart if it could be something outside of the motor!!!!

yep.....the last thing you want to do is tear the motor apart and do a top-end rebuild just to reassemble it and find out it has the exact same problem because it was something like the carbs weren't sync'd or the choke tube fell off...
