matt1 Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 What do you have to do to bore stock carbs? Do you need to get new slides or will the stock ones work? Anyone ever tried it? How far can you bore them? Quote
AKheathen Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 you can bore them to 27.5mm, and even taper bore them for more flow. the slides stay the same. Quote
matt1 Posted October 10, 2010 Author Report Posted October 10, 2010 What kind of performance gains can I expect from this? I mostly trail ride and have FMF fatty's, 100. over vito's power pistons(150 compression),+4 degree timing and a redneck clean up port job(done by previous owner). I run a prodesign filter in the air box with no lid. How would this compare to getting a set of 28s? Would this increase the bottom end or top end power more? Quote
matt1 Posted October 24, 2010 Author Report Posted October 24, 2010 Anybody ever tried this, I want to know if its worth doing it or just save for bigger carbs. Quote
banshee67 Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 the stock carbs will work great with your setup. awesome lowend. the bigger the carbs, the more top end wich means slightly less bottom. but more fuel means more power. i you want bigger carbs just by a bigger set. ebay works fine. if you are only wanting a little more than stock the 28s will be awesome. slightly bigger than bored out stockers. or even a set of 30s? but we just upgraded the stockers to 33s on one of our other banshees and it has been running just as strong as it had before. ported piped bore 80. over cool head 2:1 toomey intake. ran like a beast. so its up to you if you think you are wanting bigger carbs or not Quote
Larry's Shee Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 If You can get the work done cheap enogh , go for it. Taper bore is also refered to as oval bore , opening will be taller than wide. Can't bore bigger than slide. Quote
banshee67 Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 i still think it would be better to just get bigger carbs Quote
bansheesandrider Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 My stockers are bored to 28mm. They work great, but I can't really tell you how much of a difference just boring the carbs made because they were done by JD Racing when they ported my cylinders and reed cages and the rest of my performance work.
