jst854
Finally got my 4 mil running right and now I noticed there is a ton of metal shaving in the bottom end, so I pulled to clutch cover off and didnt notice any broken gears in there so I am guessing it must be in the tranny. Is the tranny the weak point in the banshee bottom end?
Larry's Shee
You're saying you drained the trans fluid and it was sparkilie ? A little or a whole lot like metal flake paint. How long have you owned it and have you ever changed trans fluid?
J-Madd
A little is normal. If you have alot, it's usually because the clip came off of the idler gear and is banging around inside your clutch cover. The idler gear is the one between the kicker assembley and the primary gear on the clutch basket.
jst854
There is a lot and it looks like metal flake paint somewhat. I have not owned the bike that long, I bought it as a parts bike and built it up from there. So the engine is brand new less the tranny. After talking with my builder he said it is more than likely the clutch breaking in.
J-Madd
Shiny metal flake apearance is ok. Actual pieces of metal you can see or feel is not. Get a magnetic drain plug and you'll know for sure how much actual metal is in there. O'Reilly's has them for just a few bucks.
AdrenalineJunky
I just put new clutch in mine and had same thing happen. I'm assuming it's the clutch breaking in.
