Jtw Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 ok bought this banshee a couple of weeks ago. i ve been fine tunning the carbs and making sure they were no electrical or engine problems for the past two weeks. when i bought the bike i notice there was no pressure for the rear brake. i thought to my self it needs fluid and needs to be bleed. right?? so i did it. took it for a spin and the rear brake locked up, hmmm released fluid to unseize cylinder and checked the pads, pads were shot. went and bought some pads for it and replaced them. re-bleed the brake line, as well as put a parking brake block off plate. lubed up the cylinder and thought i was good to go. took the bike around the back of my house on a small trail, all of a sudden i see smoke coming off the back of the bike, i came to a hault and relized the rear brake was locked again. it was so bad it caught fire, thank god i had some water handy, called a buddy of mine to help load the bike up into a pick up. i'm just confused why the rear brake would continue to lock up. any ideas??? bansheesandrider Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Your caliper slide pins or even the caliper piston are froze up. Rebuild the caliper and make sure the pins it slides on are free and the boots over the pins are in good shape. If your boots are bad you will have to get boots for a Honda TRX250R as Yamaha does not sell the boots seperately and the Honda uses the same caliper. Quote
