1Banshee2 Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) I just bought a 2001 banshee wiht t5 pipes cool head boost bottle 280 main jets and 25 pilot jet. It will start right up but wen u give it gas it just boggs but it stays running. I put new plugs in it and it didnt help. i adjusted the carbs because the plugs were soaked and now it wont even start. Does anyone know what could be wrong? fuzz913 Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 the same thing happened to mine after cleaning the carbs. what i did was opened up the drain screws and blew through the vent hose. got fuel to flow through the drains. tightened the drain screws back up. fired right up after that. been fine ever since. only thing i came up with is that it had an air lock in it. So Cal Suspension Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 It could be a number of things. I would start with the easiest first. Check to make sure the choke tube is in place between the carbs. (little black line, about 3" long). After that, check to make sure your slides are in the right carbs. There is a little nub sticking out on the inside of the carb, and there will be a corresponding groove on the slide. Those need to line up, and the "half moon" shape, needs to be towards the rear of the bike. If none of those work, you should probably check for a clogged line. One at a time, pull the fuel feed line off of each carb, and open the petcock and make sure you're getting a steady flow of fuel to each carb. If that checks out okay... it's time to disassemble the carbs and make sure all of your fuel circuits are clean. If EVERYTHING checks out above, then I'd say it might be an ignition issue, but highly doubtful that is the case. Quote

I made sure the slides were in right and the needles were seated right but i took off the filter and the cable is not opening the left slide in the carb so could the be the problem? It idles fint but only on 1 cylinder. Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Yep... That's your problem. Order yourself a new throttle cable. I believe Jeff at FAST sells them, if not hit up eBay! Easy fix for sure. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 and you should also really jump your pilot jet from that 25 up to a 27.5 The 25 is a stock pilot jet size and MOST pipes and shee's run a ton better when they go up a pilot size with aftermarket pipes. Quote
