n0blefart Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) I have a banshee obviously. Ported, fattys, fmf exhaust, aftermarket carbs, basically i want it to go as fast as possible. Right now dyno testing has it at a confirmed 85. So what can i do to.get closer to one hundred. What's my next step? Thanks guys! Also forgot to put i don't have an air box i have two squishy pods lol. Edited August 16, 2010 by n0blefart Quote
matt1 Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 85 hp stock stroke, pump gas? sounds like bull**** to me. Most 4mills would have a hard time pulling that off. Quote

I have way more motor work than you and I'm approximately 65HP on my banshee.(wildcard porting) That being said... there are still plenty of other bolt ons you need like, reeds, cool head, timing plate, ...maybe consider some CPI pipes instead of the fmf's for more top end. alf44 Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Different pipes, CPI or toomey, intakes, reeds, k&n pods, advance your timing, coolhead to adjust compression, Dynatek ignition. Those are some bolt on mods. Then you can look into a 4mill crank, bigger carbs or a cub setup. Quote
06specialedition Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Okay when you said dyno I immediately thought horsepower.... If your trying to reach 100MPH, maybe you could play with tire sizes and gearing?? Honestly not sure how reachable 100MPH is on a shee, but I'm no expert. Quote
dajogejr Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 I personally wouldn't waste the money on a Dyna Ignition just yet, especially if your goal is top speed MPH. First you need power, then you need tire and gearing. Second...what is your budget. Third, who did the porting and what kind of power is it. FMF fatty are not going to rev as far as other pipes...but you need to build a combo that works with each component. I say drop a 4 mil crank, 421 cub cylinder, pistons, etc., and a lockup clutch with a trail cut trans, (You'll need 6th to get to 100MPH easier) then you can worry about the silly stuff like chassis, etc., Quote
AKheathen Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 x2, you are going to need tall enough gearing and high enough rev period to reach 100pmh, but you need the torque of a stroker to be able to ride it comfortably, and pipes that will hold the power up there. just what porting, what carbs, any head mods, like shaved/re chambered/cool-head? what dome size? reeds yet? tires/gearing? to actually pull 100, you have to factor wind resistance, and cutting the front fenders will help allot. Vintage Smoke Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Since you asked for intelligent help...... Why shoot for a top speed? Do you live/ride in an area where you will be riding it WFO all the time? In other words what % of your riding time will actually be spent riding at 100mph? If you build your combo to be ABLE to go 100mph, but don't actually spend much time riding at that speed you may find yourself unhappy with the way the bike performs everywhere else. Just a thought.....I may be off. Quote

So a lockout clutch. 4mill crank and pistons.and all of.that. ignition system i've been looking into. And then some toomy pipes should get me pretty close? Thanks guys! Quote

Just curious, but why do u wanna go 100 mph?? Im not familiar with dune racing so you might have a wide open area to reach 100 mph, but the only other time u'd need to go that fast would be drag racing on asphault. Quote
