sandracer86 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 This is my first post on here so here it goes. I have a 97 banshee thats had the crank welded, stroked, head and cylinders ported, jetted with 270's, full toomey t5 exhaust and an msd enhancer ignition but heres my problem i drag this thing 300 feet in the sand and i need to be able to take off in second geer but when i try its all bog. I was told by some of the other racers tham my problem lies in my sprockets. Well i went to a 12t on the front and 43t on the rear and it didnt help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanx!!! Quote

bansheesandrider Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 For starters, it sounds like your jetting is way off. A stroked, ported and pied Banshee needs bigger jets than 270, probably at least a 310 or 320, maybe even bigger than that. What size pilots do you have? Quote
dajogejr Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 A stroked and ported banshee done half ass should pull more gear than that... with a 12 tooth up front the first two gears would be 100% worthless. You have an issue somewhere else... Could be jetting, could be mechanical or it could be wiring. With 12 up front you should be able to go through the first 4 gears before the tires stop spinning... I know MSD makes nice stuff, but maybe it's not setup right, etc. You should be able to roll stock gearing (14/41 or 14/42) and launch 2nd NO problem. I'd maybe try upping the jets as said and putting stock ignition back on. Quote

You sound lean. Due a plug chop. Check out the MSD wiring, battery & the hole shot switch. Or just go back to the stock CDI box. Go from there. Quote

I would say 14 front and 43 rear, something has to be wrong that set up should be able to almost start in 3rd with no bog. Quote
dunner250 Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 I'm a 4 mil running 14/43. I was stock gearing and had a big bog before switching. Quote
