rob0202 Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 i seized my engine, the piston skirts blew off my left side and fell into my crank causing it it seize. do i have to split the cases or is there another way to get the piston peices out. ( by the way i bought the bike and only had it for 2 weeks prior. carbs were not in sync , my fault for not checking it before i went to ride). Quote

YOu are better off taking it all apart....The only difference is a few gaskets and you will need a gasket kit anyway to rebuild....you will be better off making sure everything is out and that your crank is ok and that nothing got in your crank bearings.....and so on...... Take it all apart! Quote
RagunCajun Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Split the cases and don't half ass it.one tiny piece of metal can blow her up again. While you have them apart, change all the seals. A clymer manual works awesome for case splitting. Quote
madjimmax Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Also check very carefully for cracks under the crank. Sometimes when this happens the pieces that get stuck under the crank can crack your crankcase and it will leak tranny oil into you cylinders. Quote
