Im going to try it just looking for a little advise before diving in. I have searched the forum and can only find a few threads so here are a few questions I have...

 

I have a 4mill 66mm bore stock ported cylinders with Pro Circuts adjustable timing at +4 32 mil Muniki's comperssion is around 180psi V Force III reeds.

 

I do some trail riding but mostl drag. It runs good but always wanting more......

 

I have larger fuel lines and after market cap...

 

Do I need to drill out the cap?

Do I need to drill out the over flow reliefs?

 

Im at see level and running 330 jets with clip in the middle. Whats a good starting point for rejetting and clip?

 

Can i advance timing more?

 

What else do I need to do to make the switch?

 

Is there going to be a noticable power gain?

Im at the same point but there are more things you ill also need to be doing.

 

You will need carbs drilled for alcohol

You will need a dual feed pingel

You will need Number (9) plugs.

Timing at around 7+ish

And im sure more.

But from what I have read, it should be fun and im getting my foot in the door for this coming dunes season at Glamis

Start by drilling your dump tubes and mains to .120, run a 55 pilot, airscrew 1-1 1/2 turns out and needle clip second clip from the blunt end. If you are running a power jet, you could prolly get away w/a 116 main, maybe less. Start rich and work down. The beautiful thing about alky is it can run pig rich spaying raw fuel out the pipes and will still run ok. But do remember, you burn about twice as much alky as gas.....so a tank of alky won't get you far on the trails.

In my honest opinion, you'll net an increase of 7% give or take switching to alky.

Since you have a stock ported bike, it would be a complete and total waste of time.

 

I know porting costs more money...and there's a reason for that.

You could easily double the output of your bike and tuned/maintained right it would be nearly as reliable as it is stock.

 

Porting first, then alky...you're wasting money and time until then.

 

While you're at it...get the crank welded. I've seen them come apart on stock motors. With that much compression, it's only a matter of time if it's not welded.

X2 Get it ported and crank welded. A good port job and some CPI Inframes will make that thing scream!

Sorry guys I should have worded it better... I have drag ported stock cylinders with a 4 mill welded crank. Thanks for the info. Looking for carb set up when switching to alcohol. Thanks.

You still have stock carbs? Buy some 35 mm or 39 mm pwks already set up for alcohol - not sure I'd mess with stock carbs for alky.
