Vinnie_D Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Hi guys. My name is Rafael, i'm from Portugal! I just bought my 3rd Banshee, and my previous 2 were MX and woods machines. My last one had a -2 OEM cutdown swingarm, +2 A-arms, ported cylinders with Namura pistons, Hot rods, carbon fiber reeds, KN filter and PEP pipes. My current Banshee is completely ruined, i bought it cheap so i can rebuild it myself, a nice project to keep me ocupied. I want it to have a good woods set-up, so i was thinking like a -1" swingarm and +2+1 A-arms. What do you think about this? Now and most important, it has a broken rod, so i am going with new pistons and new rods. This is my major doubt, what can i do now? Keep it a 350cc with ported cylinders? (the way my mechanic ported my last banshee made it very strong on high revs, but kind of hollow midrange... not the best setup for woods) Can i go up, like 370? 400? What would i need? Can it be done with OEM cylinders or do i need to have them sleeved? Finally, won't it be too strong for woods riding? Quote

Finally, won't it be too strong for woods riding? i got a ported 385 4mil bike and it runs great.the plus 2 arms in the trails make going thru trees tight but i like it.for the 4 mil ull have to get cut domes so u dont have to run the spacer plate, then have it ported for the 4 mil.spacer plates are a way to make compression leaks and kick urself in the pants.u can have any set up u want dude.370,385,392,404,421.these would be the most for the woods.the 421 would be max if its not ported.a ported cub would be too nasty in the woods imo. Thanks guys!! After reading up on this, i want to go big! So what do i need to buy? If i buy the 4mm rods, i can also buy a cool head with domes... What domes would i need, and what pistons would i need? Quote
shakar Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 i think youll have to get a whole new crank ,if the rods busted it cost as much to have rods /bearings replaced and trued /welded as it does for a new one .unless u got the hook up. i no this is true for a stock stock crank may be diff for strocker . but i wouldnt think so ??? good luck Quote

WOW that may be a litle over my head... There is no one here that can take up a job like that... That made me change my mind, i want a reliable machine that's built right... So, let's simplify, how far can i go with stock crank ando no dome cutting? Quote
shakar Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 ported stock stroke with shaved head and other lil goodies. sound like u need a new crank eather way, the kicker is a new 4 mm crank is like a buck more the stock stroke and a big increase in power . call one of the site sponsers im sure they can answer all ur q's and give ya some #'s .thats ur best bet good luck Quote
