-Herbie- Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Bike Specs: FMF gold pipes, turbine core silencers, .20 over wisecos, cool head 20cc, 600ft, 50-80 degrees temp, 27.5 pilots, 290 main, 3rd clip 1.5 turns air screw. Carbs have been sync'd and idle screws almost all the way in but idle speed seems very low. Had it up at silver lake this weekend and once it was hot it wouldn't start without choke on. Also it had a bad low end bog/ hesitation, ran good mid to top. I am assuming its lean on the pilot. Would it make sense that i need to run 30 pilots? seems big for my mods. Thoughts????? Quote
overrevtricky Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 I found a 27.5 pilot to work, but after I threw a 30 on there it made a really nice dif. I thought that would be too much but it works well. that was before the 18cc coolhead and Avgas in sig. Since the choke richens the system and you say it wouldnt start without it, I would certainly go with a 30 pilot and good carb clean. my .02 cents! Quote
badjetman23 Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 i would do a compression check to see where ya at then i would do a leakdown test to make sure its not a seal leaking alot of times a seal will make it start hard and have to use the choke to start warm better to be safe than sorry Quote
98_shee Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 I agree with badjetman. If you have to choke it when its warm it may be low on compression. 30 pilot sounds rich for your mods. Quote
theoriginal87 Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 27.5 is as big as i would go.... but i would just keep screwing in the idle screws till it idles cause i know i had to do that with mine and also when you install idle screws on the carb you have to file down the part where the lock nut contacts the carb and if this isnt filed down any or far enough your idle screws may not screw in far enough to contact the slide to make the bike idle.. this is just a thought i had but id check out your comp and do leakdown like the other said just to be safe..
