danceswithferrets Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Hi, quick intro - I race a TZ350 sidecar in the UK, as parts get more scarce and much more expensive we've made the decision to build a big bore banshee motor to race in open class club races. We (my Dad and myself) have learned a huge amount about 2T tuning from the 10 years with the TZ. We have sold our 3 TZ motors and used the cash to buy a bunch of banshee parts from the USA. Looking at a 500cc motor, hoping for around 120bhp. Not too bothered about powerband, on a sidecar the throttle is either open or shut, the TZ had a 2000rpm powerband and that was fine, it probably made around 70-80 bhp. not bad for an old piston ported motor, but lets face it, yamaha made the ultimate engine when they came up with this design and in it's day the TZ was the king of Grand Prix. So it'll be interesting to share tuning tips once we get this beast up and running. We love what you guys in the States have been doing with this engine, but I'm sure some of our TZ tuning tricks and tips will be of interest. Watch this space Quote
