i just bought a 2001 banshee. it has been bored 80 over, kn filter, stock carbs, and i have just ordered a cool head with 22cc domes. the bike is hard to start, and seems to be running lean. i checked the main and it has a 260 which i think is to small. if any one can help me with a starting point it would greatly be appreciated. my alttitude is roughly 950ft. thanks so much.

260 should be pretty close. you could go up to a 270 or 280 to be safe but unless the plugs are showing lean i wouldnt worry about it. what do you mean by it is running lean? make sure your choke tube is hooked up and everything is good and tight. also you can put a 27.5 pilot jet in to help with hard starting.

i ended up at 300 mains 27.5 pilot 1.5 turns on the airscrew

im at 1100' elevation and used to have basically the same set up

i used to have all kinds of trouble starting my bike and it just came back from being rebuilt.

increased the jet size and it started 2nd kick..

Hope this helps

Good Luck

temperature also plays a part in jetting correctly. what is the average temp. you will be riding in? i ran a 280 main, 27.5 pilot and for a average of 60-80 degrees it was perfect. but was hopeless when it turned 30 degrees out. also how fresh is the build? compression test it lately? those might be factors to hard starting. could be time for a rebuild.

thanks for everyones input. motor was supposively rebuilt a few months ago by a dealer. I'll try the 27.5 pilot and bump up to a 280 main. thanks again
