blowit Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 How do I break in a new top end my book says 20 hours that's gunna suck We recommend 1 tank at about 50% power. I realize many just want to wring it out instantly but I can disprove that theory pretty easy. Take it easy for about 1 hr and you will be fine. Mull Engineering Quote

robert.b.west Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 I was told go easy for a half of a tank. Dont keep at one throttle position for long and dont keep at wot for more than 3 sec at a time. Quote
BigRed350x Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 Just go romp on it. I've always done 2 heat cycles then just go ride it like you normally would. I usually get about 3 years out of a top end before I need to replace anything. I might do rings after 2 years if the compression calls for it. Just make sure you let your bike warm up before you take off. Give the pistons time to warm and expand. Quote
