Modquad head leak

Holy hell it never ends!! Finished installing Modquad head, all new o-rings, filled with coolant now its leaking from the studs on all 10 of them!! please offer any advice you guys got!

They just need to be retorqued. Once you put them through a heat cycle you need to retorque them and they will be fine. I always torque to 20 inlbs start and warm up then I retorque to 22 inlbs and you should be golden

Did you install brass washers under the nuts? Had the same issue and after installing brass washers, nylon insert nuts and a little liquid gasket on the studs and leaks stopped.

Got fresh copper washers with the kit and put them on. But I noticed alot of junk built up where those sit. going to clean it today and try again!

My modquad head leaks too. I just sealed it up with some silicone

does that new modquad head use the 10 little o-rings, and did you pot them on, and in the right spot? i don't see why they would rely on the coper washers alone, but who knows?

It does not have the 10 o-rings like the pro design one, just the copper washers. Talked to modquad and they said throw some silicone on the nuts then thread em on. We shall see after a little drying time!

With all of these modquad heads leaking I would think twice before buying one. I cant believe that they said to just silicone it IMO thats fucked up. Aint that what the orings are for? I have had my vitos hemi head for about 6 years now and I've never had a problem. This sounds like this is something that modquad needs to address.

There is a very easy fix for this.

Get new copper...or I prefer brass washers.

 

Get Acorn nuts. Put the washers on, put a dab of silicone on the threads of the acorn nuts and torque them down.

I promise you no issues. The center studs are good for leaking. With brass washers and RTV'd acorn nuts they won't. Period.

 

The Chariot head I have came with heavy duty Chrome Acorn nuts. Not just tough, but very good looking on the bike too.

Yes...and as you'll note I said my nuts are both tough and look good.

 

I'm picky when it comes to my own nuts.

The wells the nuts sit in where pretty nasty, cleaned em up, put yamabond on the nuts and we shall see what happens today. If this fails its certainly onto the acorn nuts! thanks alot guys
