Avgas users!

Hey guys, just switched over to avgas on 18cc domes and want to know if there are any "side effects" on fuel system parts or anything else that I should watch out for?

my fuel cock started to leak a little, but it's old stocker, lol. runs great, just got to watchout for guys who think they know it causes buildup on everything. one of the cleanest, most regulated fuels... i suppose you have already calculated your octane requirements, right?

Take it back apart...lol.

Compression ratio dictates the need for octane.

Timing does to a point, but not as much as CR.

You have to measure the volume of several things for an accurate compression ratio.

i dont know if it just evaporates faster than other fuels but sometimes the oil would puddle in the bowl of the carb if it sat for a week or 2. i run it with no problems.

haha, i just noticed you're from oly. used to live there years ago. where you riddin? need elevation first, but if a biulder told you what to run with the domes, then you should ask him. otherwise, you have to figure your compression ratios, timing, and squish to tell. if it's a stock, unported cyl with a bore near 54, no timing advance, and squish around .050" then that is the ragged edge of 100ll, and you'd have to be carefull to run it @100'asl, aside from the fact that the stock crank may not last too long....

lol, that's how i found out that my fuel valve was leaking, but i never saw it really drip, just the oil on my cyl and damp valve...

riding capital peak, shelton, summit lake and a few places out by tenino. Google earth is telling me my house if 243ft asl, my compression with 18cc domes is right under 150, up from 120 with stock head. Mods: K&N no lid, VF3's, T'5 complete system. I got the head off Bansheestang, who looks to be the guy from M&M site sponsor. Told him my whole deal before I got the head from him.

Bike will run great. Get it jetted properly as you would with any fuel and the av-gas will treat you right. There is a lot of bogus information on av-gas out there. I have used it for over 20 years in my 2 strokes and don't have any complaints.
