kswayze Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 I might not have had the best title but I am thinking about changin the exhaust on my banshee. Right now I have FMF Fatties with their Q silencers. Is the DMC 916 a step up or should I look at another brand? Quote
run Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 DMC 916's...VERY good pipe. It all depends on your setup though. Quote
kswayze Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 That is the thing, I do not know exactly what set-up I am going to go with. I have way too many ideas runningf through my head. I think in the in the end I will have a dune port, lightened flywheel, advance timing 4 degrees, and forged pistons. Quote
GrMeyer Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 I run the fatty's with a dune port and the bike flat out runs its ass off. But I know im starving the bike of its full potential. So bigger carbs for next dune season. But I say if you have the pipes, keep them. Quote
Bansheeb0y5505 Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 I have DMC 916's, my father has Fatty's. Similar mod's otherwise. Power Curves- Fatty- Comes on a decent bit earlier then the 916's. Very smooth, broad hit for play riding. Smooth transition. Rev's fairly high but doesn't like to scream all that much. Fairly quiet. 916- Will chug along, but without much balls. Really starts to pull in the mid-range. Once you get into the upper mid-range, it pulls like a raped ape. A lot harder, more violent hit then the fatty. Pulls top end excellent. Very fun to ride in the powerband. Very loud, but sounds good. Drag- The FMF's usually get me out of the whole with their bottom end. But by the time I hit second gear I start pulling on him. It's not a tremendous difference but the DMC's do pull harder and are faster. Trails- The fatty's are an awesome trail pipe. Very easy to keep on the pipe and whip around. The DMC's will lug around tight trails, but not quite as exciting. Wide-open- The DMC's excel here. They pull so nice in the mid-range and up top. Makes for a blast ripping around in the open. My opinion- If you ride a lot of open places (mines, dunes, high speed trails) the DMC's are a nice upgrade. If you ride more trails and some tight trails, and just toying around, these are the better choice. I hope this helps ya out. Quote
Bansheeb0y5505 Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 Oh and the DMC's respond better to porting. Quote
Banshee Roost Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 I went from Fatty to Pro Circuit Platinums and I love them wont go back! Quote
kswayze Posted March 28, 2010 Author Report Posted March 28, 2010 Thanks everyone for the help. For now I will keep the fatty's but will probably upgrade to 916's when I get some porting done at next top end. Quote
