Got the bike out for the first time this year today. I'm getting popping again at WOT. I didn't do a plug chop today, probably will tomorrow. I pulled the plugs to take a picture of them and did notice that the little nub thing (it's called a terminal stud) that screws on to the top of the plug was loose. It actually fell off when I pulled the plug wire off of it. Maybe, just maybe this is where I'm getting the popping from??? I've got new plug caps that I'm going to go ahead and put on. Listen to the bike in these videos and tell me what your thoughts are. The first video, you can't really hear it too much but it is popping if you listen closely. The second video you can hear it pretty good. (the popping isn't consistent throughout the night. It got worse toward the end of the day.)

How do the plugs look to you? They are actually a little lighter in person than they appear in these pictures. These plugs have about 5 hours on them with 1 hour or so from today.

Jetting looks lil rich from those plugs. Mine is jetted rich and my plugs look like that...Did you tighten the terminal tip down on the plug and try it again? I would def put the new caps on..Does sound like mine when it messed up that day we were riding. It had no power....and popped when you tried to get on it...

I was sure it was the main jet then once I got it back in the garage I pulled the plugs and that's when I noticed the terminal stud issue. I pulled the plugs out and when I was taking pictures of them I noticed one of the terminal studs was missing. Went back and found it laying on the head. So it was definitely loose. I didn't rerun it after I found that problem. So my thoughts have completely changed from jetting to spark plug and or cap issues. I've got new plugs that I'm going to put in it along with a new set of plug caps. I'll give that a shot.

Mike, didn't you bike sound like my second video when your plug caps were screwed up?

Yeah but mine wouldn't wind out..Remember me puttin back to the barn. Im 100% sure those plug tips is what caused that..

Mine will wind out, just pops at WOT.

I just got back in from the garage. Put the new plug caps on that I got from FAST a long time ago. Also, tightened up the terminal stud on the plugs. It runs great and has a very snappy throttle. I'll get it out tomorrow and see how she runs. I will also do a plug chop while I'm at it. As for the loose terminal stud, I don't know if I could have pulled it off when I pulled the plug wire off of the plug or if it was loose and vibrating around causing this popping.

If the rain holds off, I'm going to tune on it some more today. I've got new plug caps on it, new gas, new plugs gapped at 0.02 and I'm going to check the pick up gap. Hopefully this solves my problem. I'm also going to do a plug chop to get a better idea there.

That pretty much sounds like what mine is doing except mine cuts out longer and stays on longer and I have no clue what it is. Let me know what you figure out so I can check on mine.

you figure anything out? the second video sounds like a plug cap issue to me as well. was the third vid with new plug caps?

No, that was the same day, just earlier. I haven't had a chance to test it again with new plug caps and new plugs with a tighter gap. It's been raining every since.

Will do man! I'm 99% sure I've fixed it now. I believe it was a spark issue, either loose and worn out plug caps, the terminal stud being loose or a combo of both. I'll test it and report back.

Well, the bike is definitely fixed!!! It's running better than it EVER has! The plug caps did the trick. It's running like a scalded dog. For the first time I actually got to feel the power of this F.A.S.T. motor and it's crazy. Can't wait for Badlands now....
