2005SET Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 I recently put main jets (310) in to my 2005 shee. It runs a little rich now, so instead of buying new jets and tearing it apart again (which I found to be a bitch), I figured I would just buy a mod to lean it out a bit. I know this sounds like more work than just getting new jets, but my alternative motive is that it sounds better to the wife to buy a relatively cheap mod (250-300$) that is easy to install, will fix the rich conditions, make it faster, and keep me from having to go through that oh so horrible jet swap agian So anyhow, she agreed to let me buy something...so what is the best bang for the buck from where I stand now? FMF fattys, power core 2's, K&N, ! snorkle, ! lid, 310 main jets. I was thinking cool heads or reed valves, but didn't really know what was the best for the $250 range. Thanks! Quote
00sheerzr Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 PORTING or i would go adj. timing plate, reeds, and then it up to you Quote
tecateman Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 i think his idea is he convinced her its too much work to rejett. i think taking the motor apart and sending it out might blow his cover. Quote
alf44 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 I can hook you up with a complete coolhead setup for $245 shipped. Also a timing plate would be a good bang for your buck. I can get you one of them also. Reeds would be your next option. But of course the best way to go and for the best bang for your buck is porting. You can always get some Vitos super stock pistons also. There kind of an alternitive to porting for half the price. Im putting a set in a vike now to test for myself. they claim on average a 6-8 hp gain just by using these pistons. Check them out on there site. If your interested shoot me a pm and Ill get you hooked up. Quote
GrMeyer Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Your running 310s with the lid and snorkel on? Quote
2005SET Posted March 8, 2010 Author Report Posted March 8, 2010 Your running 310s with the lid and snorkel on? Nope, ! them ! (delete) (i think) haha alf44- Sounds like not a bad idea. I might be hitting you up pretty soon on those heads. Those pistons sound awsome to, how often are we supposed to rebuild the top end? Cause I have ~50-60 hours on it, and I was thinking it was time for a top end rebuild? Quote
FASTOYS Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Im not a fan of Vito's power pistons as they tend to wear the cylinders much faster with thier shorter skirts! Normally i like short skirts but not in this case. Quote
2005SET Posted March 10, 2010 Author Report Posted March 10, 2010 I looked into those pistons, they seem like a pretty good deal, and are on sale for 170. Anyone have any cons? Quote
3lue by u Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 jet changes are fairly easy or at least to me they are... Easier than an adjustable timing plate and easier than new pistons for sure. Quote
