cbn70 Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 How do you take out the lower retaining ring for the lower steering stem bearing? What size hex wrench do you need to do this, or is there another way? thanks Quote
-Herbie- Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 I don't know what size hex wrench you need but most people just get a 3/4" bolt from Lowes or Depot and 2 nuts. put the nuts on and tighten them against each other then use the hex end of the bolt to turn out the retainer with a wrench on the nuts. Or if you have a welder just buy one nut and weld it from turning. Quote
Drewski Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 I'm pretty sure it's a 32mm hex driver. I didn't have one so I found a large nut that was still too large and I ground all 6 sides down on the bench grinder to fit. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 If it is not rusted in place or overtightened, you can use a pair of 90 degree external snap ring pliers, just put the tips in opposite corners and squeeze and turn. Quote
