Fuel leak from float bowl hose

I currently have constant fuel dripping from the fuel hose coming out of the back of the carb bowl. I have replaced the needle and seat on both carbs along with the floats (and adjusted). The only time it stops dripping fuel out the hose is when i shut down the fuel petcock. What else could be causing this constant fuel dripping from the hose when i shut the motor down? Getting a little frustrated...Thanks

I had that same problem on my carbs. It turned out to be an o-ring. When you pull the float assembly off, there is a needle valve looking thing that goes straight up into the carb but attaches to the float. The brass thing that needle goes into has an o-ring on it. I pulled that off and the o-ring on that was bad on both carbs. Replaced those and hasn't leaked since.

Floatvalve needle and seat. But if u replaced both of them, then try adj ur floats so they will shut the valve sooner. If that doesn't help then the seat and needle aren't seating fully.

If you are talking about the hose at the bottom rear of the float bowl, that hose serves 2 purposes. One, it is a hose for the drain valve, and two, it is an overflow hose. As far as the drain side is concerned, make sure that the drain screw is tight, but not overtight. It is the screw on the bottom of the float bowl next to the hose. As far as the overflow part, it could be an incorrect float level that never shuts off, or it could be a needle and seat problem, including the o ring on the outside of the seat.

Have the same issue on only one carb. Let us know what the problem was. I haven't dug in yet, still working on my DC conversion.

It is only one carb that is leaking on mine also. I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend, taking the carb apart again! Thanks for the replies. Looking forward to fixing it....Hank

I've also had this problem and in my case it had occured from a piece of sand of something stupid like that...basically it wasn't "clean" i guess. I just took them apart and re-cleaned them and also adjusted the floats. Good luck and hope all this advice solves your problem.
