Hey everyone

 

I have recently replaced my ignition coil as that was what my local bike shop told me was theproblem with my bike. But i am still not getting any spark. The stator has recently been replaced aswell, does anyone know whats happening here ?

If you are still running TORS, disconnect the "brain" under the left side pipe, should be screwed to the frame. It's a black box with three wires coming out of it. That should solve your problem if you still have TORS.

what brand stator did you get? did you use the proper tool to remove the flywheel?

 

The stator was one from Ricky Stator and i can only assume that the flywheel was removed properly as i paid a mechanic to do it.

Man did I ever go through this same thing when I got my Banshee. I removed flywheel to put on a timing plate and *poof* stator went out. I would check your connections with a ohm meter, if I could dig up my thread I could tell you what readings you should be getting I cant remember off the top. Either your TORS or your stator. Disable ya TORS by the black box near rad, just unplug it and get back with us.

Ok so i just disconnected the tors and still no spark, Whats the next thing i need to try

unplug the stator connector, starting at the cdi 4wire plug and ohm it out with a meter. start by ohming the meter by touching the leads together and subtract that from the readings. red to green should read 14-22 ohms, and white/red to white/green should be like 90-110 ohms. if you get a bad reading there, there is another plug at the rt. front of the airbox and take the same readings there.......if it reads good there, check for melted wires. the ricky stators are notorious for just going out without warning, being bad out of the box, and having high rpm issues. net thing to check is the flywheel/pickup gap. it's the little box that sits next to the flywheel. you stick a sparkplug box (unfolded) in between the pickup and the node on the flywheel. if it's a big gap, then loosen the screws, push it close and tighten the screws down. you should be able to just pull the box out. you can also use a buisness card. look at the flywheel for signs of prying. if you can get the fywheel pulled, then you can also check the magnets. hope this helps.....

Not to make you feel stupid, but have you checked all the obvious things? Key switch and kill switch? In case the key switch has gone bad, you could try bypassing it before you open up the side of the motor. Other than that, I agree with what Heath said. Ricky's has recently been notorious for random stators that aren't worth a shit.

Im guessing, stator..... Got any buddys with one they can let u borrow? Just to rule out? Im just going by what mine ended up being when I had your problem. It just went out and i didnt even unplug it, just moved it. It could be your keyswitch or killswitch as stated above.

oh, yah, you can test the kill wiring and key wiring at the stator, too. simply unplug the 6 wire plug, put your ground lead on the black wire, and then you just test continuity. any continuity on the black/white wire, and it will kill the engine. it connects to the kill switch and the tors controll box. you must have continuity to the red and black wire(keyswitch) for it to run.
