bansheesandrider Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Just wondering what u guys use on your cases when you reassemble your enigine. I use Yamabond 4 on mine, I have never had an air or oil leak using it. Alot of guys on here use the Threebond stuff, I've never tried it. Whatever you do, DO NOT use silicone RTV, the hyrocarbons in the gas will attack it and cause problems. Quote
camatv Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 yamabond grey. OR auto store ultra grey or import gasket maker, grey in color. easy to remove ( carb cleaner or brake clean will soften it up easily) and hold up very well. never wanted to try something else i really dont feel like pulling a motor all the way out for a couple dollar sealer issue.. chevybanshee350 Posted January 31, 2010 Author Report Posted January 31, 2010 Thanks guys, just wondered ive heard of guys putting it on the outside of there crank seals , does anyone on here do that Quote
dco3100 Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Not necessary if you make sure you align the grooves and install right Quote
dirtydownunder Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 i use 1211 on the case and loctite No.3 on the outside of the seals. you dont need to use alot of sealant becuase it squeezes out. Quote
FASTOYS Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Ive used them all and prefer to stick with Threebond 1211 as it is the easiest for me to work with. Looks like this: http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=282 Quote
