Is any body running a egt or air fuel meter if so what kind of temps are you running. It would be nice for jetting and kepping a eye on things might just save a set of pistons.

I don't like em. They aren't exactly right or accurate. If you use one you can burn down a motor maybe even at 1100 degrees if its reading off, so you still need to look at your plugs and tune by riding and looking at the plugs. If you run some timing your EGTs can possibly read lower than 1200 even tho you are lean. EGTs can read very low on an alky motor with lots of timing even if it were melting. Just learn to tune by reading your plugs that's the best way. Start rich and go down and you'll feel the bike get a ton faster when your a few jets off and then plugchop.

Timing and placement has a lot to do with the reading that your EGT gauge will register. If you don't have enough timing in the engine, the mixture will still be burning coming out of the exhaust port giving you a false 'high temp' reading. Too much timing and it could read on the low side. Also, t is not wise to compare EGT numbers with someone because if they have the probe in a different place then they are going to see different numbers. They could be higher or lower depending on placement.

i ran mine on my honda setup about 3 inches away from the head... all 4 pipes had a probe.. individual cyl timing capabilities

you usually have to get the jetting close, and pull the pipe to check the wetline. I usually get it as close to the piston as I can, but keep it out of the wetline.

i used the EGT digitron on my 535 to kinda keep the motor in check with hotlapping/ dune racing it. i was running around 980ish full throttle end runs temps run after run after run. if i needed to i could heat it up with the pj's and run faster but still stay int he kinda safe zone. but really onalky i just like to use the ole seat o the pants and ears for tuning BUT when my crank blew out on the pin the egt did show a major air leak that i didnt really hear and i was able to shut the bike off before it destroyed the cylinder..

was also nice to use the download'd stuff and see the tire spin, clutch working, and gearing compared to rpm chart was kinda neato/
