BOOZER2009 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I want to cut the ears off my front fender but I don't want to have rocks beat the shit our of me when I ride hard pack. I ride sand most of the time. Will rocks and/or even sand nail me? I have a brand spankin new twist throttle kit. But I have heard pros and cons when landing from jumps or hittin woops, that you can accidentally hit it or have less control of thropttle versus the thumb version. I mainly ride dirt bikes so I am used to a twist. I bought this shee and just rebuilt it. so I have not ridden it yet to know. Any thoughts??? Quote
BSHEE400 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 the only time i ever get hit with stuff flying off the front wheels is if i go through water or sloppy mud, as for the twist throttle i do a variety of types of riding with it and have never had any problems but you will have people who hate them and think they are dangerous . try it and see if you like it, if not it's not a big task to switch back to the thumb throttle Quote
bansheesandrider Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 My expierience has been that people that learned to ride with a twist throttle ( dirt bike) love them and people that learned to ride with a thumb throttle (ATV) hate them. I have twists on all my quads and wouldn't have anything else. We had to put a twist on my kids Blaster when she was little because her thumb would get tired on rides and we would have to stop. Quote
Sandfrk33 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I hate thumb throttles but grew up on a dirt bike. Just try it and see if you like it better. Probably will. As for the fenders, its not what you would expect. As already stated, you won't really notice except for water and mud. Quote

yamaha04 Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 i only ride sand once a year when i drive to the dunes the rest of the time im on shitty trails and in abandon gravel pits. iv never been hit with anything other then water. the front tires dont really grab any rocks, Quote
