shee2000 Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 What is the best way to replace the shifter seal? and how to? If anyone has time to write the steps down . Thanks alot when i did mine i found a post on here that told me so i will do my best to help you well first you have to pull of the shifter, the covers, etc. so once to got all that off i just took a right anglr pick and stuck it in between the shifter shaft and seal an pulled like he** and kinda go around it to pull it out evenly so pull on one side and then move it and pull again ive also of people putting small screws in it a useing pliers to pull it out now when putting the new one on i put tape over the splines an greased the seal and shaft to help from damagin and when i was putting the seal i used a brass punch with tape on the end to help soften the hit and lightly i mean lightly tapped it back into place going around it until it was seated Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 you should be able to dig it out of there without taking out the shift shaft. try using a screw to get it pulled out or something pointed. once its out, just slide the new one over the shaft and tap or press it in place evenly.
