i just got my banshee and need to know if it has been bored out because my pistons have chunks missing off of it when i opened upand part of the rings were broke.

the bike has fmf fatty gold series pipes and do not know if any other mods have been done the top of pistons have pings all over it but still ran because it was full of crbon residue so it was a old prob how doyou tell if it has been worked on. the reason i opened up was because recently a plug worked its way out and i put it back in but it would not run right it would want to shut off and sputter . so im trying to cover all bases at once and need to know if i could have damaged something when it ran with the plug out?

The plug backing out is its way of telling you something Isn't right probably due to detonation. This could also be why your pistons are starting to show dings and pits and shit. It happened to me twice and both times the right cylinder looked worse than the left.

 

To check if your piston is stock if you can manage to get the carbon off the piston there will be letters on top the piston STD which is stock.

 

If you can't find anything on the piston you will need to have the pistons micrometerd to tell you the bore size. I'm sure they can gauge the cylinder also to tell you the bore. But if your pistons are starting to explode you will need new ones.

 

Now about your plug, detonation often happens when you use low quality fuel. Make sure your running some 92-93 octane pump gas. Also air leaks can cause this too.

 

Don't run it till you fix it if you keep running it like it is and the piston gets too hot it will start to grenade in there and loose lots of metal chucks and shit then next is your crank/rods will get too hot and start to get all jacked up too.

 

You need to find out if your head is aftermarket or if you have a stock head that has been milled to have more compression.

 

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the detonation part.

i checked top of piston and the only things i see on top is a G and a arrow and a s on the inside as well as a # which read 1ua00 also when it was running crappy there was a lot of detonation going on in the right side . i only run 97 octane with castor 927 mix 40:1 ratio . what would bad seals do to performance and how hard is it to change ?
