Does anybody put a thin layer of yamabond around the outside of the crank seals when they install a new crank and seals or just install them dry.

i dont. i usually just run some threebond up to the pockets in the cases where the seals go.

I do pack the seals with grease though. ;)

Thanks I also pack all seals with grease just wasn't sure if it would be good to seal around the crank seals. Thanks for your answer.

You should always put sealer around the crank seal. It is good insurance. I also put 1211 on the key, small primary gear, and the waterpump gear because oil can get into your crankcase via the woodruff key.

Last thing you want is to take the thing apart if it leaks. It doesn't happen often. But it does happen.

I do the same as koolguyson.

I used to only put it around the crank seal until I had my first leak through the keyway. Oil CAN get past it and it'll blow smoke like a freight train

thanks I will do that.
