Coolant leak

Hey guys, i have just done a top end rebuild on my 06 banshee and once it was running i found that there was coolant seeping from the head gasket . I have checked the head for warpage and cleaned up both the head and bore surfaces, I have double checked that the head is torqued down to the correct setting and always follow the number sequence on the head when tightening and loosening. Is there anything else in particular i should do to these surfaces before assembly??? Do u guys use any type of sealant?? Just thought i might check before putting the head back on for the 2nd time and wasting another head gasket. Thanx

Put the head gasket on dry. Put the head on and torque it to 20 ft. lbs. using a good torque wrench, not a harbor Freight or no-name one. Start the bike and bring it up to operating temp. Retorque the nuts while it is hot and then let it cool. Do this one or two more times, you can go to 22 if you need to. Are you using a good gasket, I prefer a genuine Yamaha gasket. If your head and cylinders are flat, the cylinders have to be equal height when bolted on the cases, this should be all you have to do toseal it up.

Thanx for the info mate, i am using the head gasket out of the wiseco rebuild kit i purchased. I always thought they were a decent kit??? I will try retorquing while hot and see how i go, i have been torquing down to 28 newton meters as described in the workshop manual. which is approx 21-22 ft/lbs.
