  1. That was my next thought, getting the head sent off to be crack tested. The only thing that steers me away from that being the problem is that that gasket leak is in the exact same spot on both cylinders which i thought would be pretty unlikely but stranger things have happened i guess. The gasket blew originally from me being stupid and smoking up some old tyres for too long ( i know, wat an idiot )
  2. Hey AKheathen, I believe the heat cycles were complete. As both times i checked the torque settings i couldnt tighten the head nuts anymore and when removing the head after 4 or 5 rides ( usually a week min between rides) the head nuts were still tight.
  3. Hey guys, hopefully someone can help me here. I have an 06 banshee which is pretty much stock except for pipes, jetted carbs and air filter. The problem i am having is back a year ago i blew a head gasket, i pulled down the motor and did a top end rebuild. After the first couple of rides the overflow kept spitting out coolant and the bike was back firing, so i pulled the head back off to check and found the head gasket leaking into the cylinders again. So i removed the cylinders and sent them with the head to the machine shop to have them both faced just in case of slight warpage. I also fitted a genuine head gasket instead of the wiseco one that came with the rebuild kit. The head was torqued down correctly and re-torqued after a couple of heat cycles, I even used hylomar on the gasket to try help it seal up. A few more rides later and same problem, pulled the head off yesterday and found both cylinders leaking in at the intake side of the combustion chamber. Im stumped at whats wrong and not sure what to do next other than purchase new cylinders and head and start again . Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
  4. Thanx for the help guys, i pulled the carbies, exhaust and reeds off today. Just when i thought i couldnt find anything i found the washer that sits behind the the main jet on the carbies on the bench what an idiot!!!! so the problem was that that the jet was sitting too high causing the needle to sit lower in the jet, There is my lack of fuel on 1 cylinder. Thanx again
  5. Hey mate, my shee has pipes, boost bottle, carbon fibre reeds in stock cages, uni filter in box and has been jetted to match modz. The head gasket blew from me being stupid and getting it hot, when i did the rebuild i had the head and cylinders faced to make sure theyre not warped. Ive put new gaskets through everything and the carb boots are sealed nicely and so is the cross over tube. the carb sync hasnt been touched but i will check it anyway and will also pull both the carbs down and clean. Thanx for the tips. If u think of anything else let me know.
  6. Hey guys, i have a 2006 banshee and have recently done a top end rebuild because i blew a head gasket. Now that is back together i seem to have a missfire problem under load at high rpm and cant really get into powerband fully. I have pulled the plugs out and found one side is a nice brown colour and a little wet and the other is a grey colour but dry as a bone, i have swapped leads and plugs from side to side but problem stays on same side. I have checked for any air leaks but ok, the bike idles sweet, starts fine and will free rev nicely on the spot. Only under load does it seem to play up. Any ideas would be much appreciated, Thanx.
  7. Mine was the same, i just pulled the kick pedal off and fitted a new o-ring. They must just wear and fall out in pieces. Shes quiet as a mouse now.
  8. Thanx for the info mate, i am using the head gasket out of the wiseco rebuild kit i purchased. I always thought they were a decent kit??? I will try retorquing while hot and see how i go, i have been torquing down to 28 newton meters as described in the workshop manual. which is approx 21-22 ft/lbs.
  9. Hey guys, i have just done a top end rebuild on my 06 banshee and once it was running i found that there was coolant seeping from the head gasket . I have checked the head for warpage and cleaned up both the head and bore surfaces, I have double checked that the head is torqued down to the correct setting and always follow the number sequence on the head when tightening and loosening. Is there anything else in particular i should do to these surfaces before assembly??? Do u guys use any type of sealant?? Just thought i might check before putting the head back on for the 2nd time and wasting another head gasket. Thanx
  10. I had a similar problem with mine and it ended up being the microswitch on the throttle lever was stuck in, not sure what the switch does but it will definantly stop the bike from revving and cut the motor out when you try to rev it. Guessing it is connected to the ignition somehow. good luck.
