cunny_boy Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 (edited) Hey guys. Just got my new 2005 Banshee last Thursday. Having a couple of issues. Firstly, I think the person who fitted the pipe (FMF Fatty - Powercore 2) is a complete tool due to the fact that the bike pisses oil out of every orifice (where the pipe meets the engine, where the pipe meets the silencer and out of the silencer itself). Then I have the issue where the bike is completely dead in power for the 1st 5 mins, alot of sucking noises from the airfilter, and a very low sound eminates from the bike (not the usual scream characteristic of a banshee) - eventially comes right... (if i hit the petrol, it sounds like its hitting a rev limiter, but the low sounding rev limiter as i mentioned) The tard who i got the bike from advised a 24:1 oil ratio, I think it might be running a bit rich? change to 32:1? The jets have been changed (bigger)... is the bike still not getting enough air?? (the airbox has been drilled accordingly to yamaha's spec) Please help, don't like seeing my bike so sick Edited November 10, 2009 by cunny_boy Quote

crustydemon Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Check everything that he said but you know that you should not even try to rev it until it is fully warmed up or you run a risk of cold seizing it or doing more damage to the motor than you would think, they take a little while to warm up, just feel your pipes or head, when there very warm your good. How does it run when warmed up? Quote

How does it run when warmed up? When it warms up, its insanely sif! Love it. Need to clean the carbs tho, I think she'll run sweet after this, spoke to a buddy yesterday, he said the rings that seal the exhaust are completely gone so need new ones. Am i wrong in saying that after modifications you would need a bigger jet??? Just have an issue when pulling off, i have to give alot of gas to pull off, is this normal? Had a blaster before this so it was quite different... Quote

cunny_boy Posted November 12, 2009 Author Report Posted November 12, 2009 this weekend I'll be cleaning the carbs, redoing the plugs etc etc hoping that she will run a bit better. I don't have much compression and this worries me somewhat...time for new pistons??? Quote
dajogejr Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 What are ALL of your mods, elevation, temps and rider weight? Start there. You shouldn't rev it out when it first starts. But it is liquid cooled, a blip of the throttle here and there to circulate water is fine, notice I said blip. Quote
cunny_boy Posted November 12, 2009 Author Report Posted November 12, 2009 I dont rev it like mad. even when i blip it, it makes the low sucking sound, hardly any noise from the pipes.... Quote
dajogejr Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 You're going to get that noise from clamp on air filters. But I think you need to do a compression test and a leak down test to get a handle where you're at. Quote
cunny_boy Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 I've realised the what the problem is but too ashamed to say hahaha i was blipping the petrol with the parking brake on... Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 I would get a tors removal kit and remove the parking break/clutch rev limiter. will just cause problems down the road for you. Quote
cunny_boy Posted November 16, 2009 Author Report Posted November 16, 2009 I am however worried about the compression, i can push the kick crank down with my hand...is this normal? Quote
