Little history first, only had my banshee for a year and a half.It has never ran very good. The carbs that came on it, the slide guide was broken and I think the guy siliconed it back in place, so when I cleaned them I found chunks of silicone. I bought a pair off ebay but I screwed them up when I broke then tap making threads for idle screws. The next set I got off ebay was allready screwed I think the guy lost the idle screw and replaced it with bigger bolt with bigger threads. The third pair I got off ebay allready had idle screws. I clean them, check floot level, sync them, got the right jet size and ajust idle. Ripped it up and down my road and I never ran that great. I did notice it was smoking a bit. So I put it away in my parents garage. I come back two weeks later and it's puffin thick white smoke out both pipes. The left side is double the smoke. The idle was really really high and it ran terrible like before I got it tunned right.

Thinking blown head gasket cause of the white smoke and then I did ride it to hard it would would over head and bubble over.

Other money I have dumped on my banshee and why. Stock head pipes cause the insides where broken and raddling around. Silencers fmf Q-series cause I could hear stuff raddleing around and now I'm buying stock cause you can't have any mods for the atv trails around hear. K&N filter with air box mod. Rear light cause it was missing. ASV levers cause they wher finished. Motion Pro twist thottle cause I wanted to. DG Fatty grab bar cause I bent it good. Boyesen Power Reeds cause they made her run better. Holeshot HD rear GNCC front cause they where finished. Stock steel heel guide and plastice cause I don't want to loose a leg. The list goes on for ever and it's getting late.

I love my banshee and I just want everything to be perfect. I don't want to pay anyone to touch it. I'm learning slowly.

Thanks for any help you can give.

well, first, you are probably going to have to change out the fuel with some fresh premix. go buy a head gasket and remove the head and inspect if the gasket is leaking. you will have to drain all the coolant. replace the head gasket with a new one always. next, remove the water pump cover and check to see if you can turn the impellar by hand or wiggle it upand down, if it does, you have a problem. next, roll the engine over and make sure the impellar is turning with the engine. put it back together. the torque sequence is on the head. the book says 20, but that's sometimes not good enough for initial torque. i do it @ 10 ft/lbs, then again @25-30. you have to retorqe it after a few heat cycles. what is the crap about not being allowed pipes? i've heard of sound and forrestry regulations, which there is silencers made for that. you can paint some paul turners to look like stock pipes....

Fresh premix was the first thing I did thinking there might be a problem there. Also with some fresh pugs "gaped". But I know now after talking with guys a work who know about engine and reading some forums here that I have to be burning coolant. So who makes the best gaskets? Vito, Cometic, Namura, Winderosa, etc. Thinking about taking the hole thing apart and changing the oil seals and bearing aslo. Don't know if I want to take on that much right now. Ya I know I should check the impellar cause I know the stock one is made of plastic. Put a new water pump cover gasket also. What do you guys think of the high flow metal impellar?

I live in Quebec rules rules rules. Not aloud to mod your cars or trucks. Cops can give you tickets and send you for inspection. Same shit for the ATV trails. Got to have your Lisence or Proof Of Competence, Insurance, Trail Pass, One rear-view mirror firmly attached to the left side of the vehicle, A speedometer. Modification prohibited. No other modification shall be made to the vehicle if the modification is susceptible or reducing its stability or braking capacity or of increasing its accelerating power. Copy and Pasted that one straight from there web site. If I was rich I would have two banshee's. One stock one for the provincel trails and one modded to the tits for rippin on the streets at night (midnight run), private property and the track.

My stock silencers just arrived in the mail. Just need a insurance and a trail pass and I "was" ready to go. Never been on trails yet. Was going to ride all winter. They groom the trails just like the ski-doo trail.

Thanks for all the help again. Banshee's Rock!

damn, quebec is fucked....i'd leave that bitch and move west. if you are up for it, the mull impellar is definately a better and more reliable mod than stock, realatively cheap, too. just buy the stock head gasket from the dealer

Was wondering if someone could explain head cycles to me and how to do it properly? I didn't have time to take much apart. I noticed that my piston has some play in the cylinder at TDC when I push it forward and backwards. Side to side not as much play. I know when I pull it more apart I will have everything measured. I was also wondering about how many times you can have your cylinders bored? The book says two time but I see piston and ring kits that are even bigger. What Piston and Rings do people recommend?

Thank for your help.

Wow. You get screwed on the rules for sure. Thats too bad because toomy makes a forestry approved hush kit for banshees. Makes it almost quieter than stock. Good luck. Hit me and the other sponsors up for parts, performanc, accessories and just some good advice. Welcome tooo the HQ and too your new addiction. :headbang:

I got the pistons and cylinders off now. Left piston looks torne up and down on the front and back. The cylinder has grooves in the same spots. It says 1.25 on the top of the piston so I believe it's been resleeved? What size did the new sleeve come with? was it bored? can it be bored? I'm lost!
