Ever since I got my bike in April, I have ran it with Castor 927 at 40:1. The top end blew so I replaced it but when I was taking it all apart I noticed the cylinders and exhaust is just a complete mess.. Not to mention it's pricey (33 bucks for a half gallon). I started the break in with 927 at 32:1 and am now running it back at 40:1. I wanna switch to Klotz Supertechniplate (the 80-20 one) but a buddy of mine told me that for whatever reason it's a bad thing to switch oils? He said once I break in the motor with 927 I have to use that till the next rebuild. Is that true? Because I would really like to use the Klotz in order to save money and save the mess associated with the 927.. Would the Klotz lubricate at least as good as the 927? From what I understand it burns clean because of the 80% synthetic but still provides sufficient lubrication with the 20% BeNOL. Would I be okay to run it at 40:1 still to lube as good as the 927? Any help would be much appreciated!

You buddy is full of crap. You can change oils. One thing to think about is going to a cheaper oil than either of those.

I didn't start running Supertech until I switched to alky. Before that I ran just good old Yamalube. Cheap and ez to find. Does great job. I run everything 36:1 gas and alky. Only changed to supertech becasue the Yamalube doesn't mix with alky.

Ah I thought so.. He's full of crap about a lot of things but I figured it would be best to ask. Do you think I would be safe running either at 40:1 on  Premium 92 octane gas? Or does the Yamalube need a richer mixture than the Supertechniplate?

Yamalube need to be richer then the Benol/Synth blends, but it is muh cheaper so iy's a wash.

Your buddy might be assuming that you shouldn't switch from a syth oil back to a conventional like in a car???

Run the Klotz at 40:1, I use klotz in my engine and have NEVER lost an engine. My current top end has 5+ years on it and has lost about 15 pounds of compression from the 180 I started with. I ran Yamalube and lost a crank and had problems with plugs fouling. The motor was stock when I an Yamalube and is a fairly built 350 running on Klotz. I also recommend their KL506 trans oil, since I went to it my bike shifts much better and there is no longer a metallic look to the oil when I change it.

I think I switched oils 4 times this year.. lol

Yamalube is good oil.. Never had a problem with it. If your fouling plugs then your jetting is off. Factory jetting is usually rich.

I keep all my mixes with gas at 32:1 No need to lean the ratio, You wont see any worthwhile gains in power.

Thanks guys! I think I'm going to run the Supertechniplate at 40:1. I like the fact that the synthetic blend burns a little cleaner than natural oils and I can run it at 40:1 so it lasts a little longer and I can go maybe an extra 500-1000 feet on a tank of gas lol. I already know my jetting is about 1-2 sizes too rich but I leave it that way on purpose because I'm just paranoid as hell about it being lean!

i just switched from bel-ray to klotz because it was easier for me to find around here. didnt expect it to make it run any better but it actually did, alot better off the bottom, and it smells really good too, lol.
