Just got another banshee yesterday. Went to put my airbox on it to replace the k&n pods and the box of my parts bike has been cut back on the carb side to fit the reed spacers and the boots are to short. My questions are the spacers helpful or what do they actually do.

Only thing they do is if you have larger carbs. It moves them back just enough so that the left carb nut on the bottom of the bowl does not hit the clutch actuator arm. Thats it. I run them but i have 30mm carbs and it used to hit that arm a bit. No gain in power what so ever. Even if someone says there is, its proly .00001HP gain :rotflmao:

 

For stock carbs there not needed!

well i run them on mine but i honestly dont think they do anything but get in the way when taking off the carbs with the stock airbox. my does seem to have more torque than my buddies but thats most likely in the pipes and vforce reeds

just a headsup- i've heard a few times that the spacers alone have caused issues in the higher rmps, when installed between the cylinders and reeds. no runability issues, and something like .2-.4hp in the lower rpms, but install them on the carb side of the reeds. but, as said, they are for clearancing the carbs, not performance..... :whoa:

They do make a slight difference in power on engines that are larger than stock cc. It is a very minimal midrange gain though.

So should they be installed on the carb side or the intake side.
