pr0blumz Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 (edited) i have a recently rebuilt motor and I'm having a problem with one of my cylinders not firing. The right fires perfect but the left fires every now and then. I switched the plug wires and the problem stayed on the left side. I switched carbs and checked the compression and everything is good. I checked the whole harness, ohmed the stator and coil. The stator was good as well as the primary on the coil. When I checked the secondary coil I get a reading of like 5.86 M ohms. I unscrew the boots off the wires and get a reading of 6100 ohms like the spec calls for. Could this be my problem? The right side rums perfect with either plug wire connected. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Edited September 11, 2009 by pr0blumz Quote
AKheathen Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 check your pickup gap on both sides of the flywheel, check reeds, and make sure the exhaust is clear. you have the stock flywheel? was iit ever removed without using the right flywheel puller? Quote

Never thought about my exhaust may be plugged....i'll certainly check it. I checked the pickup gap and reeds and they appeared good. I'll check the exhaust and switch the reeds to see if its changes. AKheathen Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 are they chiped/frayed, or just gapped? you can flip the petals, if gapped Quote
pr0blumz Posted September 12, 2009 Author Report Posted September 12, 2009 They're gapped. They're VF3s, if that make a difference. Quote
