POORBOY350 Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 i figured it would be cheaper to make a wheely bar and try it than buy a swinger. i got a +2 janssen swingarm elka rear shock w/ ressie. stock frame 4mil cub cpi inframes..... just wondering the basic design that works and any pointers on mounting points design everything.... also wouldnt it be like it was strutted if i made the bar from the frame to the carrier bolts? so i could built it whatever ride height i wanted right im just brain stormin kinda right now any tips appreciated thanks. Stellar Performance Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 Wheelie bars are not that difficult to make. You just have to give it some thought when doing one. If you connect the upper bar to the frame rather than a point connected to the swingarm, you will have to strut the rear. A good rule of thumb is to make the wheelie bar length the same as your wheel base. A stock banshee is 50.4 inches long. So if you have a +2 swingarm, you should aim for about a 52-54" long wheelie bar. If you have too short of a wheelie bar, it will be a rough transfer on and off the bar. Quote

dusty_v141 Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 i built mine out uf a leaf spring for a car. its only conected too the swingarm and i run the shock. i will try too get pics posted up tonight after work but my front wheels come up about 6 or 8 inches abd it does not bunny hop at all. i race aphalt and i leave the line wide open in first. Stellar Performance Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 There are a coule of ways to secure the wheelie bar to the swingarm, but most of them require welding a bracket to the swingarm. If you do not plan of lowering the front of the bike any. Then you will only want to lower the rear enough so the bike sits pretty close to level. If you build some struts for the front as well, then you can lower the entire bike to sit about 3-4 inches off the ground. Check with your local track and see what is required to pass tech. Quote
