702clj Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 i recently roll my banshee at the dunes. a couple months ago. upon checking it out looked like i only messed up the a arms. got those. but i went to take the gas tank out and its stuck. checking it out more the top of the frame is bent where the handle bars mount. question is can they be bent back or should i start looking for a new frame Quote
RZBansheeMan Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 You should be able to bend it back , but it will need to be strengthened with a gusset. My Banshee in my sig has a bent steering hoop also (didn't notice it when I bought it earlier this summer), needs to be pulled back forward about 1/4" to 3/8" and then I will need to gusset it. I'll get around to it this winter. Quote
702clj Posted August 3, 2009 Author Report Posted August 3, 2009 how do i figure out how much it needs to be bent back? Quote
dco3100 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 I cant see any damage in the pic, but if your refering to the long bar that runs from the pipe mount area to the steering stem mount, then I believe those bars supposed to have a slight curve in them Quote
702clj Posted August 3, 2009 Author Report Posted August 3, 2009 yea it hard to tell from this pic but its bent back. the only reason i know this is because the gas tank would not come out right. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 how do i figure out how much it needs to be bent back? Unbolt the upper steering stem mount, make sure there is not too much play in the lower bearing. Measure between the mount surface and the back of the upper bearing. This is how much the the hoop is bent, when you push it back, go an extra eighth inch or so and then gusset it nicely. Quote
RZBansheeMan Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Looks like the tabs on your radiator are bent also. Quote
