I have T5's But I wanted more top end like a drag bike setup so kevin suggested I get some shearer's. If your running shearers with a HJR dune port or whatever type of porting then drop a post. Quote
okbeast Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 I have ran that setup before, ran great. My jetting was a little off so I was missing out on some of the mid-range but if jetted properly it'll run great all through the RPMs. Quote

I was actually thinking about picking up a set of CPI's, anyone ever tried both pipes? Quote

The Shearer's make a little more power, but it's at the expense of torque in the mid-range. Currently, I have the CPI's on my red bike and the Shearer's on my blue bike. I ported the blue bike differently to accommodate the torque loss in the mid-range. :geek: Quote

Cascade sells Shearer pipes that they buy bear and chrome them through vendor that works with the company I work for. As far as new Shearer's go, they are the best plating you can get. 2.) Matt's in-house / production chrome from 4 years ago was garbage for several reasons. First, there are not any good plating vendors around his shop (he learned that they same way I found there weren't any good heat vendors in SoCal (the hard way)). Second, he was having the polishing prep./work done at his shop my a low wage/unqualified guy to save on cost, but good plating is 80% prep. and that turned into a mess. Quote

He ported it for the CPIs I was running and it ran damn good once the jetting was figured out. After I switch to SB Shearer pipes the jetting went way down But I notice a performance increase all around. I didn't have any dyno sheets to compare against because at the time I dyn ed I didn't see the need. I wouldn't go back to the CPIs again and Kevin said he can make some minor porting changes and get a hew more ponies out of her if I want. SP Quote
